Lesson no.5
In this lesson, I would like to discuss about the railway terminal. I am also will share my experience after I was played railway games called " Railway Empire". There are certain aspect that need to be follow and determine by the players.

There are evidence activity II that been attached to this lesson. We will see how a good railways operation can impact a country in term of economics and society development.
EVIDENCE ACTIVITY II
Title of the game : Railway Empire
The game is based on Epic Games, it give the players the sensation to build our own railway empire based on different era, I choose to play in early century which is 15th Century in a town known as Philadelphia. As a Mayor of the town, players will build our own empire and setup our own railways.
I really enjoy playing this game because I can apply what I learn in classes into the game. As the mayor of the town, there are certain aspect that I need to study to build the railways. For instance:-

In 15th Century the dominant occupation is trading, mining and farming.

As a Mayor of the town, I need to connect all the farming area, mining spot and other town to Philadelphia as train is the main transport in 15th Century.

To construct a railway, safety aspect and geographical aspect also need to look out such as mountain, stone area, bush, deep forest and river.

I need to make a decision which direction of the train will go and I need to build signaling system to ensure train can move both ways or one way directions.

A good township planning is determine by an excellent transportation that connects them.

Based on the video above regarding "Facilities Required at Railway Stations || Railway Engineering ||" , we can see that to build a railways, the facilities to be build will be categorized in 4 section. For instance:-

Public Requirements (Booking ticket office, platform trains, proper lighting, toilet/bathroom)

Traffic Requirements (Signaling system, sidings for platform)

General Requirements (Easy to reach, clocks for accurate time, proper foot bridges)

Requirements of the locomotive department. (supplying fuel and water for locomotive)

In order to build a good railway terminal, it must be fulfill the demand and supply of the passengers.

Demand

All passengers will demand a good service from the railway stations in terms of customer satisfaction.

For instance :- The terminal is been guarded by security 24 hours, the toilet is in clean condition, there a mosque for Muslim to pray or rest, there are ATM machines for passengers to deposit money.

Good service from the terminal will ensure passengers to use the terminal frequently

Supply

The terminal managers must ensure the supply will be fill by the demand.

For instance :- If the terminal decides to open food shop or rent a shop lots to seller, they must choose a strategic location for passengers to notice the shop, location and quantity for vending machines, Toilets must be clean frequently by toilet cleaners.

The location of the terminals must be in rural or urban area due to by having a terminal in countryside area will make other mode of transport to reach such as cars and taxi.

Proper planning must be made by the terminal managers to ensure there are no difficulties for passengers to use it.

Based on my experience, the terminal that I find the most efficient and fulfill the requirements for an excellent terminal is KL Central hub terminal. Different types of train can be transit to KL Central as it is the center hub for train in Peninsular Malaysia. It have franchise such as McDonalds, KFC and other food franchise. It is also attach with the Nu Sentral Mall and located in the center of Kuala Lumpur.
