Lesson no.8
In this lesson, I would like to discuss regarding the topic of railway signaling of worldwide and Malaysian railway signaling system.

There also attachment of the "Advance Activity 3" the evidence of me watching the signaling system video in Youtube
Based on the YouTube video, I learn something about the new technology from LSIS CBTC SYSTEM, LTran-CX,
It is a new technology for railway signaling system and control the operation of movement safely and efficiently by improving their way of monitoring the block of railway to avoid the collision and to predict the speed of trains that using the same block of railway.

Block of railway
LSIS are using wireless communication technology to calculate location and the speed of the moving train. It is a good idea to avoid the risk of accidents and collisions for the trains that using the same block. If we look back at 16th century railway are using time interval system. It is based on the time interval of 10 minutes for each train to use the block of railway.

By having this technology, it can give the drivers of the train to have a minimum safety distance for them to brake if there is an unexpected condition that can leads to accidents. The average freight train is about 1 to 1¼ miles in length (90 to 120 rail cars). When it's moving at 55 miles an hour, it can take a mile or more to stop after the locomotive engineer fully applies the emergency brake. An 8-car passenger train moving at 80 miles an hour needs about a mile to stop.

The CBTC System can detect the exact location and times of the trains and this data can be transmitted to the terminal to inform the accurate estimate time arrival (ETA) for the train to passengers. Conventional system are using fixed block meanwhile CBTC System use moving block.
